Battle against Blindness from Diabetes

Diabetic retinopathy is the 6th major cause of preventable blindness. Some of the studies done in south India have shown prevalence of mild diabetic eye damage among diabetics as 26.8% to 30.4%, and severe form as 3.4%, with estimated 40 million diabetics in our country in the year 2007, and expected to double by 2030.

It is indeed sad to hear patients saying “ I did not know that diabetes could cause vision loss, and it is possible to prevent it by regular retinal examination and timely laser treatment. Had I known that, I would not be blind today.”

We have Diabetic Eye care Center providing all the facilities in one place.

Diabetes being a lifestyle problem is on the rise and so are its complications. Diabetic eye care requires screening and periodic monitoring with the help of serial fundus photographs.
